The Van Sickles
In 2010, Pastor Jacob Van Sickle and his now wife, Sasha, were visiting Sasha’s home state of Rhode Island. Like many Rhode Islanders, Sasha grew up never attending church and never hearing the gospel. While walking in Downtown Providence Jacob thought, “Someone should start a church here.” Never in a million years did he think that God would use a simple thought would set in motion years of prayer and planning.
In a surprising grace, God eventually lead a group of 29 adults and 14 kids to move across the country to start Sacred City Church. In September 2022, Sacred City opened up their doors just down the street from that original, “random” thought 12 years earlier. Sacred City Church desires to reach all of Providence with the gospel of Jesus Christ, including the 58,000 college students in the city.
Jacob has a Masters of Theological Studies in Church Planting from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jacob and Sasha have six amazing kids - Grace, Annabelle, Jack, Will, Knox and Judson (listed from oldest to youngest).
